Eighty-nine Chrysler and Jeep dealerships from across the UK have now officially signed up to the Dodge brand.

Contracts were formally signed this week by Chrysler management and dealer principals during a ceremony held in Milton Keynes, where the UK headquarters of DaimlerChrysler are based.

Chrysler group managing director Simon Elliott said: “These are momentous times for the whole dealer network and, with the paperwork now signed and sealed, we can look forward to establishing the brand in the UK.”

With the formalities completed, work will now get underway to install Dodge signage at the dealerships  which will receive their first right-hand drive Caliber five-door hatchbacks to sell in July.

UK-specification cars will have 1.8- and two-litre petrol engines developed by a DC/Hyundai/Mitsubishi alliance or a two-litre turbodiesel bought-in from Volkswagen, which also, incidentally, supplies the diesel for European versions of the Mitsubishi Grandis.
