BMW has sold 2m cars in the UK since setting up a ‘factory shop’ importing company which began operations 31 years ago.
The first car sold on 1 January, 1980 was an E12 5 Series saloon. Number 2m was a 5 Series GT delivered to a customer in Wolverhampton who traded in a VW Phaeton. Ken Haynes’ household also has a BMW-built Mini Countryman.
