Volkswagen group’s Bentley saw first quarter sales rise 17% year on year to 2,580 cars.

There was growth in every region, with the US reinforcing its number one position, as well as claimed “outstanding” sales in the Middle East, China and Europe.

Sales, marketing and aftersales chief, Kevin Rose, said: “We continue to expand our position as the world’s most sought after luxury car brand in what remains a challenging sector. Success in our established key markets, like the US, China, and Europe played a major role, but also growing our global presence in developing markets such as the Middle East and Asia Pacific ensured an impressive start to the year.

“With the arrival of new models such as the Continental GT Speed and Flying Spur V8, we are confident to continue our strong performance throughout 2014.”

Americas sales rose 10% to 698 cars. Chinese sales rose 19% to 564. Europe deliveries rose 12%, to 374 cars. UK home market sales fell 3% to 361 cars.

Middle East volume was up 42% to 311 cars and Japan sales were up 60% to 75.
