Law enforcement officers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have successfully seized US$0.5m worth of counterfeit motor parts in a warehouse raid.

Authorities in the country, reacting to a tip-off, found fake parts resembling Honda, Mazda and GM branded products, reported Gulf News.

According to reports the Asian dealer was keeping components, including oil filters and other items in a private warehouse in Sharjah.

Honda spokesperson William de Braekeleer told just-auto: “These type of things are now happening quite regularly. We know there are people producing counterfeit parts and cars. Honda will take legal action in any countries where we have an office.

“The fake parts create damage for the customer’s car and this is dangerous. However, we are vigilant and have a legal team investigating at production and exhibition level to control counterfeiting.”
