According to statistics released by the Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD), vehicle production in Turkey was up 10.5% to 997,069 units in the first 11 months of 2007.

However, the increase was driven by higher exports with the local market declining over the same period.

Total vehicle exports in the first 11 months of 2007 reached 747,334 units, representing a 19% gain on last year.

Overall passenger car production was up 15.7% to 578,892 units in the period.

Vehicle sales in Turkey declined by 8.9% to 534,274 units with passenger car sales off 10% on last year’s pace to 295,720 units. Imports shrank more than sales of domestically made vehicles and the share of imported vehicles in total sales was held up at 56.3%.
