Data from Turkey’s auto industry trade organisation, the OSD, showed that vehicle production in the first two months of the year was 85,978 units, 63% down on the same period of last year. Car production was down by 56% in the period at 54,030 units.

Exports – which are mainly to the EU and account for most of Turkey’s vehicle output – fell 61.6% in January-February from a year ago, the OSD said

The OSD said last month it expected 2009 exports and production to fall 25% and domestic auto sales to shrink 20%.
