Toyota Turkiye Otomotiv Sanayi will halt production for a week due to accumulated stocks.
Turkish news agency Anadolu said that around 3,500 workers at the company’s Adapazari will be sent home for a week before the factory resumes production on May 25.
The latest production break follows a three week suspension in April due to falling global and domestic demand.
Workers at Toyota ’s Boshoku parts plant will also be affected.
Vehicle production in Turkey slumped 59% on last year to 142,567 units in the first quarter as the economic slowdown in Europe reduced demand for exports.
