The Turkish News Digest says that Renault plans to increase the capacity of Oyak Renault plant in Bursa, northwestern Turkey, where the Megane Sedan is being assembled.
The company seeks to increase production to meet higher demand in Turkey, Schweitzer reportedly said.
Oyak Renault is a joint venture between Turkish army pension fund Oyak and French Renault. Oyak Renault plant produces Clio Symbol, Megane and Megane Wagon models. The plant, with its annual capacity of 160,000 units, is the biggest Renault factory outside western Europe.
The plant produced 132,500 units in 2003.
Schweitzer also said Renault’s latest small car model, the Modus, would be produced only in the company’s plant in Valladolid, central Spain.
