Ford has pushed back the production launch for its next Transit model to an undetermined date due to tight financing conditions, according to local daily Hurriyet.

New Transits were expected to enter production in 2011, the report said.

Ford Europe’s decision also covers Ford Otosan in Turkey which would manufacture the commercial vehicle at its Golcuk plant.

Ford Otosan announced that Ford Europe’s move only included Transit models and that this was just a suspension not a cancellation of the entire project.

In addition, Ford Otosan will continue the production of the current Transit model, the daily said.
