Toyota has resumed operations at production lines in Japan following suspension earlier this week after an explosion at an Aisin Seiki supplier facility that provides it with braking systems parts.
Reuters reported that Toyota said that it had already restarted some lines by late afternoon on Wednesday, and added that all lines affected by the supply shortage, including those at its Motomachi and Takaoka plants in Aichi Prefecture, would resume on Thursday.

The report said the explosion earlier this week was at a plant operated by Aisin Advics Co in Aichi Prefecture. The Aisin Seiki group company manufactures braking systems and is a major supplier to Toyota. Local media reports said that four people were sent to the hospital and one person was seriously injured by the blast.
This week's disruption follows similar recent disruptions to Toyota's supply chain caused by exceptional circumstances and highlights one disadvantage that comes with its lean manufacturing model: the supply chain can break.
