AGC Asahi Glass (AGC) said it is supplying its UV-reducing Verre Premium Privashield glass to Toyota Motor for the Estima and Estima Hybrid miivans launched recently in Japan. They are claimed to be the first minivans with glass that reduces UV intrusion by 99%.

The glass is used on the top Aeras premium-G and Aeras Smart models.

The glass, for rear doors and windows, that cuts approximately 99% of ultraviolet (UV) rays and is also better than earlier products at cutting infrared (IR) rays, AGC said. It is combined with UV Verre Premium Cool front door glass on and Lamisafe or Cool Verre windscreen glass.

AGC began sales of the new UV reduction glass in November 2015 and this is the seventh vehicle model line it is used on.
