Toyota is to sell its Camry model in the West European car market in 2019 after a 14-year absence. The new model will be a hybrid with a new 2.5-litre hybrid-electric system. It will also be constructed on a Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform.

Toyota said the model will be available in the UK and Western Europe during 2019. Performance, equipment details, prices and on-sale date to be announced later. Toyota says the TNGA platform is central to achieving strong ‘fun-to-drive’ dynamic qualities together with ‘precision build quality, highly efficient packaging and the use of innovative, user-friendly technologies’. Toyota also says an extended roofline ‘ensures comfortable cabin dimensions, while compact side glazing contained with the wheelbase gives Camry a stylish and sporting appearance’.
