It will collaborate with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Agelab, the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute and Touchstone Evaluations for the projects.
The first will research driver support features for vehicle lane centring.
The second will developing an intervention prototype to encourage safe driving.
Lastly, the CSRC aims to mine data to create better technology which helps driver decision making, promoting safer driving behaviour.
Toyota also announced collaboration with the Vulnerable Road User Injury Prevention Alliance (VIPA) at the University of Michigan International Centre for Automotive Medicine (ICAM).
This aims will conduct research on crashes involving pedestrians, cyclists, and e-scooter riders, focusing on the safety of shared road users.
These new projects follow 13 unveiled in 2022 and are part of a five year commitment and a pledge of US$30m to address diverse safety needs and explore inclusive mobility options.
