Toyoda Gosei has officially opened new Brazilian subsidiary GDBR Industria e Comercio de Componentes Quimicos e de Borracha in Itapetininga, Sao Paulo state.

The plant produces automotive sealing parts such as glass runs and door weatherstrips, interior and exterior parts including instrument panel components and safety systems such as side airbags and passenger side airbags.

Toyoda Gosei chairman Tadashi said: "The start of automotive production here in Brazil is a commemorative milestone for Toyoda Gosei, as it is our first production facility in Brazil. We look forward to growing in Brazil, especially Itapetininga, with increasing localisation to serve the needs of the Brazilian automotive market with its long-term growth potential."

In addition to GDBR, Toyoda Gosei invested capital in Pecval Industria (Pecval; Indaiatuba, Sao Paulo, Brazil), a producer of plastic automotive parts, in November 2015. These two business units will work together in supplying carmakers in South America.

GDBR was established in March 2013 and began initial production in January 2015. It currently employs 260 people.
