Toyo Tyre says its US tyre production subsidiary, Toyo Tyre North America Manufacturing (TNA) has manufactured its 50 millionth tyre.

The tyre was a Ridge Grappler for light trucks, sold as the Nitto brand.

TNA started operations as the group’s US tyre production site in December 2005. Tyres manufactured by the company’s proprietary ATOM or Advanced Tyre Operation Module, production method, with a focus on large-diameter tyres for light trucks, are used in professional-grade large pick- up trucks and SUVs, not only in the North American aftermarket, but also by automobile manufacturers in new vehicles.

The company has gradually expanded TNA’s production capacity in order to meet increased demand for tyres for light trucks in the North American market.

The total number of tyres manufactured reached 30m in 2016 and 40m in 2017. TNA is currently in the fifth stage of its production capacity expansion and plans to start operating equipment this April, which will boost annual production by 1.2m tyres (converted for passenger vehicle tyres).
