TomTom is strengthening its position in Africa by buying out the minority shareholders of TomTom Africa.
As a result TomTom has increased its ownership from 76% to 100%.
“Full control of the roadmap for Africa will accelerate our go-to-market of ADAS and automated driving applications,” said TomTom management board member, Alain De Taeye.
TomTom designs and develops navigation products, software and services, which power hundreds of millions of applications across the globe. This includes location-based and map-making technologies, embedded automotive navigation solutions; portable navigation devices and apps, as well as telematics fleet management and connected car services.
Headquartered in Amsterdam with offices in 37 countries, TomTom provides digital maps covering 142 countries. The supplier’s information service reaches more than 5bn people in 69 countries.
Toyota recently selected TomTom as its navigation partner for Latin America.
