Nissan released the Leaf electric vehicle in December 2010 and Renault launched its EVs in October 2011.

But sales have not increased as expected due mainly to a lack of charging facilities.

To the end of October 2013, Nissan’s cumulative electric vehicle sales were about 87,000 units while Renault had sold about 33,000.

Nissan will launch the e-NV200 commercial electric vehicle in fiscal 2014 and plans two more electric vehicle models by fiscal 2016.
