ThyssenKrupp‘s board has unanimously elected Martina Merz as new chairwoman of the supervisory board.
Merz takes over the chair from Bernhard Pellens, who assumed the position after the resignation of Ulrich Lehner and will now once again focus on his role as chairman of the Audit Committee.
“Thyssenkrupp is facing major changes,” said Merz. “In this important phase the executive board needs a supervisory board that ensures stable support. To chair the Supervisory Board at this stage is a responsible task which I take on with respect.
“Now it’s about successfully implementing Thyssenkrupp’s new strategy. At the same time, businesses must remain competitive with their products and services; in the interest of employees, customers and shareholders.”
Merz has decades of management experience in industry, including as a member of the board of the Chassis System Brakes division of Bosch.
Since 2015 the qualified mechanical engineer is a member of various supervisory boards as an independent management consultant, including Lufthansa and Swedish truck manufacturer Volvo.
