Mitsubishi is to launch a Volkswagen-powered diesel version of its Grandis minivan in Europe during the third quarter of 2005.
The new variant, developed specially for Europe, will make its debut at the Geneva motor show in March. The Grandis DI-D is powered by a two-litre turbo-charged diesel engine with pump-jet injection system that develops 100kW/136ps at 4,000 rpm and 310 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm.
Mitsubishi said the “state-of-the-art” VW engine will give the DI-D the best performance of its class, with a top speed of 197 km/h, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 10.8 seconds and fuel consumption on the EU combined cycle) of 6.8 litres per 100km.
The company will also show its new Colt coupe-cabriolet, developed with Pininfarina, at Geneva.
