Thailand’s Commerce Ministry said on Thursday it would impose a ban on imports of used tyres in a bid to prevent any negative impact on the environment and human health, according to Dow Jones.

The ban will be effective from July 29, the ministry reportedly said in a statement.

According to Dow Jones, the ban covers imports of used tyres for passenger cars, buses, trucks, bicycles and motorcycles, including parts of tyres for these vehicles.

However, the statement cited by Dow Jones said imports of these tyres by a certain volume necessary for research or for model or display purposes won’t be subject to the ban which also won’t cover tyres attached to imported vehicles.
