TMAP Thailand is aimed at strengthening Toyota’s Asian production and supply network by improving the speed and efficiency of individual production companies. The new company will gradually assume TMC’s role of providing from Japan support related to production, purchasing and logistics.
At a press conference in Bangkok on Monday, TMC senior managing director Akira Okabe, who is also a chairman of TMAP Thailand, said: “Close collaboration among TMAP Thailand, TMAP Singapore and Toyota Technical Centre Asia Pacific, which began operations as TMC’s R&D centre in Thailand in 2005, will enable us to respond to the customers’ needs in the [Asian] region more effectively. This will be accomplished through better integration of development, production and marketing processes together with our associates in the region.”
TMAP Thailand’s production-support objective compliments that of TMAP Singapore, which was established in Singapore in 2001 to support Toyota marketing and sales operations in Asia. TMAP Singapore president Ryoichi Sasaki has also been named president of TMAP Thailand. Both companies are to carry out integrated management of production and sales through close co-operation with the production and sales companies in the countries concerned.
