India’s Tata Motors is targeting output growth of 10% in Thailand in the fiscal year ending in March 2014, helped by dealer network expansion and exports to neighbouring markets in south-east Asia.
The company sold 4,597 units in Thailand in the fiscal year just ended, with cumulative sales exceeding 20,000 units. It mainly sells the Xenon pickup truck and the Ace mini-truck.
The company plans to add 12 sales and service outlets in Thailand this year, which will bring the total to 60. It plans to export its vehicles to Malaysia in the second half of the year and is studying opportunities in other major markets in the region such as Indonesia.
