Boosted by what it called “exceptional demand” for the Fiesta, Ford Thailand announced overall September sales up 114% to 1,520 units. This was the local operation’s best monthly performance since December 2007.
The Fiesta, built locally in the AutoAlliance joint venture plant that also makes Ford’s Ranger and Mazda’s BT-50 pickup trucks, finished its first full month of availability in Thailand with sales of 838 units and almost 3,500 orders on hand. Around 65% of Thai customers chose the fully equipped 1.6-litre Sport model, reflecting a global trend for high levels of features and options.
Thai buyers are also offered 1.4-litre Style and 1.6-litre Trend versions in five-door hatchback and four-door sedan body styles.
Ford Thailand claims several first-in-class features for the new model, including a connectivity package that features voice control paired with Bluetooth plus six-speed twin-clutch PowerShift automatic transmission.
Focus and Everest [SUV] sales increased 175% and 16% year on year last month.
