Mitsubishi Motors’ Thai pickup truck hub plant has started exporting the redesigned Triton.

The model went on sale in Thailand last November.

Exports started to the Philippines and will be followed by ASEAN markets, Oceania, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. Eventually, the trucks will be shipped to about 150 countries.

The Thai plant started exporting pickup trucks in 1991 and has shipped over 1.6m so far.

MMC said the Thai government’s consistent policies supporting the automobile industry had helped it achieve growth and expansion so that Thailand was now positioned as its pickup truck production and export hub.

Caapcity at the Laem Chabang plant is the largest of all MMC manufacturing plants.
