Chinese internet giant Tencent this week released its TAD Sim 2.0, the latest generation of its autonomous driving simulation platform designed to help improve the development and testing of autonomous driving systems.

Simulation software is a key tool used in the development of self driving technologies and smart urban transportation management.

China is one of the leading countries to develop and roll out autonomous driving infrastructure with a number of self-driving taxi pilot projects currently under way in several major cities.

Tencent's new TAD Sim 2.0 platform is driven both by real data and gaming technology and has an in built centimetre level digital map as well as dynamic and static environments for autonomous driving testing.
