Tata Motors has announced yet another small car to boost its range in the home market. The Indica-based Zica small hatchback will have its motor show debut at the New Delhi show in February.
The Zica uses the same architecture as the Bolt and Zest small cars: a heavily modified X1 platform derived from the Indica’s original platform. The Zica, which had been rumoured to use the ‘Glade’ model name, will go on sale during the first quarter of 2016, to be followed by a sedan variant, which is expected to be called ‘Boom’.
The Zica hatchback, which is a rival for the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Celerio, introduces a pair of three-cylinder engines. The Revotron 1,199cc aluminium petrol version produces 85PS, while the 1,047cc diesel delivers 70PS.
