Tata Motors has launched an electric SUV, the Nexon EV, describing it as “an aspirational SUV for personal car buyers looking for a thrilling, connected drive experience with zero emissions”.
It will be launched in January 2020, the Nexon EV is expected to be priced from INR1,500,000 (GBP16,000).
The car will have a warranty of eight years or 160,000km (100,000 miles) on its battery and motor.

The vehicle has a seven inch Harman infotainment system and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The powertrain is a 129PS permanent magnet AC motor powered by a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery. The motor produces 245Nm of torque from a standstill, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.9 seconds.

By GlobalDataThe dust and water proof battery pack is liquid cooled for Indian conditions and placed underneath the vehicle body, giving the SUV a center of gravity more akin to that of a sedan or a hatchback.
The vehicle comes with two drive mode options – Drive & Sport. It uses smart drive tech features – regenerative braking to charge the battery while coasting, hill ascent & descent assist to make driving on slopes more convenient and smart regen with creep feature for congested city traffic.
Claimed range is “more than” 300km (200 miles) on a single charge with zero emissions. When plugged into a Fast DC Charger, the Nexon EV will replenish 80% battery capacity within 60 minutes. It can also be charged from any 15 amp domestic plug point.
The new EV offers 35 mobile app based connected features, ranging from remote commands, vehicle tracking, driving behaviour analytics, navigation and remote diagnostics. The ZConnect App enables owners to locate nearby charging points, TML service stations, set-up speed alerts, track vehicle location and many more features.
The Nexon EV can be ordered with a deposit of INR21,000 (GBP225) from 20 December.
