Targa Telematics has partnered with Volkswagen Group Info Services to enhance its data solutions for fleet operators.

The collaboration will allow Targa Telematics to integrate vehicle data from fleet vehicles across six Volkswagen Group brands into its platform.

The brands include Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, Škoda, Seat, and Cupra.

Targa Telematics will gain direct access to vehicle data from these brands, allowing fleet managers to benefit from a range of digital mobility services.

These include maintenance management, stolen vehicle recovery, claims management, fraud detection, drive analytics, activity reports, EV management, and corporate car sharing, and others.

Using data on mileage, fuel, EV status, and warning lights, these features work without additional installations.

The integration will enable the use of data such as mileage, fuel consumption, EV battery status, and warning lights while eliminating the need for additional hardware installations.

Targa Telematics sales vice-president Alberto Falcione said: “The collaborations we are pursuing with car manufacturers aim to provide new mobility services based on the integration of data from fleet vehicles equipped with OEM electronic devices, thus reducing the operational impacts related to aftermarket solution installations.

“Our objectives are to overcome the high complexity, involved in integrating and standardising data, making it readily accessible through Targa Telematics’ digital platforms, chosen based on customer need and cost-effectiveness.

“All of this ensures optimal results with the fast deployment of solutions through weekly releases of new features.”

The partnership allows Targa Telematics to offer more digital services to fleet managers and drivers while streamlining vehicle provisioning.

By securely integrating onboard data from each manufacturer, Targa intends to deliver mobility solutions while ensuring GDPR compliance and strong data protection.

Volkswagen Group Info Services strategy and business development head Julian Burkhardt said: “By combining Volkswagen Group’s advanced connected vehicle data with Targa’s state-of-the-art telematics solutions, we empower fleet operators to optimise efficiency, safety, and sustainability, while enabling seamless real-time decision-making without requiring additional hardware.”

Recently, Volkswagen partnered with French firm Dassault Systèmes to advance its digital infrastructure for vehicle development.
