New vehicle sales in Taiwan increased by 5.6% to 40,436 units in November compared with 38,284 units a year earlier, according to local reports citing company data.
The market was driven higher by aggressive marketing campaigns by the leading brands. Imported vehicles accounted for 41.5% of the total, with higher specification vehicles with additional safety features attracting more buyers.
Toyota and Lexus distributor Hotai Motor reported a 5.1% annual sales decline to 11,452 units last month, although compared with the previous month volumes were up by almost 14% – underpinned by aggressive marketing including offers of gifts such as TVs.
Yulon Nissan's sales increased by 5.6% year on year to 4,003 units while Mitsubishi distributor China Motor Corporation reported an 11.5% rise to 3,922 units
Honda Taiwan's sales jumped by over 31% to 3,201 units last month, lifted by strong demand for the HRV and CRV models, while Mercedes-Benz enjoyed an 11% sales rise to 2,261 units.
In the first 11 months of the year total vehicle sales increased by 1.2% to 402,452 units.
