General Motors posted record sales of 2,182,000 vehicles in Europe last year, up 179,000 units or 8.9% from 2006.
Market share grew 0.3 percentage points to 9.5%, the highest since 1999.
Fourth quarter sales were up 11.3% to a record 528,723 cars and LCVs.
GM said it achieved the highest volume gain in the industry in Europe while the UK, Russia, Italy, Ukraine and Greece were the main contributors to its growth in 2007.
Sales in Russia were up 95.2% in 2007 to 258,835 units, far outpacing industry growth of 33.5%. GM sales volume reached 258,835 units. Market share was up 3.0 points to 9.6%.

Sales of Opel/Vauxhall’s Corsa were up 45% to 454,047 units in its first full year since redesign and the Meriva was again the leading model in the small monocab segment in Europe and, together with the Zafira, also led the combined monocab segment.
Opel did well in Russia, with sales up 232% and market share increasing from 1.5 to 2.5%.
Vauxhall sold 384,387 cars and LCVs in the U.K. in 2007, an increase of 10%, leading to a market share of 13.7%.
With 457,224 cars sold in 2007, up 33.6%, GM-Daewoo-sourced Chevrolet reached record market share of 2%, an improvement of 0.4 point.
“The brand demonstrated its strength by growing particularly strong in central and eastern Europe, but also achieved growth of almost 10% in western Europe,” Browning said.
Saab sold 84,930 cars in 2007, “a slight decrease”, according to GME.
adillac sales up 31%
Cadillac sales rose 31% in 2007 to 4,508 units, with strong growth in Russia, UK, Austria, Denmark, Spain and Italy. Corvette sold 1,257 cars and Hummer sales increased 18% to 2,292 vehicles.
GME’s new model highlights in 2008 will include the new Isignia, a replacement for the D-segment Vectra.
