A report in IT Training says that induction training and company information will be available from September to 57,000 Volvo Car Corporation staff via an intranet and the web.
The induction material will give newcomers information about Volvo’s culture, people and history prior to starting work.
Lisskuller Lindstrom, vice-president for people and competency development at Volvo, told IT Training: “We felt that a web-based learning tool would be ideal to help introduce the company to newcomers.
“We will also look at enabling different units in the company to add their own home page for their own employees.”
The report says that initially, the programme will be in Swedish and English and be aimed at 30,000 staff at Volvo’s head office in Gothenberg, and factories and sales forces around Europe. However, Volvo plans to increase the number of languages to eight and the scheme will also be available to Volvo’s dealers.
