Volvo Truck Group delivered 13,612 vehicles in January, an increase of 26% compared with the same month last year.

The Volvo brand sold 8,433 trucks during the month, up 51% compared with a year ago but down 29% on the previous month, December. Just under half were devlivered in Europe 3,374, an increase of 54% overr January 2013. The company said first quarter production rates in Europe have been adjusted to reflect lower demand, a consequence of customers having pre-bought trucks ahead of a more stringent emission regulation that came into force on 1 January 2014.

Deliveries in North America increased 209% to 2,433, mainly due to two down-weeks in January 2013. South America increased 5% to 1,509 trucks.

Mack Trucks saw a rise of 37% while the 2,085 trucks delivered by Renault Trucks represented a decrease of 24% compared to a year ago and down 60% compared with the previous month.

Renault Trucks is currently introducing a completely new truck programme with four different series; T-series for long haulage, C-series for construction, K-series for heavy construction and D-series for distribution.

Production rates for the first quarter have been adjusted downwards to reflect lower demand following the transition to the new emission regulation, Euro 6, and the ongoing product renewal.

UD Trucks sales were also down 11% at 1,301 in January while Eicher deliveries fell 33% to 2,144 trucks compared to the same month last year.
