Total deliveries of trucks from the Volvo Group’s three truck companies decreased 6% in January this year, compared with the year-earlier period.
Deliveries from Mack rose 18%, while deliveries from Renault Trucks were up 3%. Deliveries from Volvo Trucks decreased 21%.
Volvo attributed the decline in its deliveries to the model changeover to the new FH and FM models. Volvo truck deliveries in January reached 2,646 units (down from 2,961 in January 2005).
Deliveries from Mack in January totalled 3,076 units, up 18% from the same period a year ago. This continues to reflect the high order intake through much of 2005 in the North American market. Order intake in January continued to run significantly higher than normal. Volvo Group says that the strong demand indicates that customers now are factoring the upcoming 2007 emissions regulations, and the additional costs related to complying with those regulations, into their truck buying plans for 2006.
Renault Truck deliveries in January totaled 5,859 trucks, a rise of 3% compared with the year-earlier period. Deliveries in Europe rose by 4%, though in France 6% fewer trucks were delivered.
