Volvo has the world debut
of its stylish S60 sports saloon, a new diesel engine, a concept car, plus an
almost completely revised range of cars, all launched this year, on its stand
in Hall 1 at the Paris Motor Show from 30 September to 15 October.
VOLVO S60 WORLD DEBUT
The sleek, coupe-like lines
of Volvos dynamic new S60 sports saloon, set to go head to head with rivals
such as the BMW 3-series, Audi A4, Mercedes C-class and Lexus IS200, will be
revealed to the public for the first time at the Paris Motor Show.
Eye catching styling, three
powerful 5-cylinder turbo petrol engines (180 bhp 2.0T, 200 bhp 2.4T, and 250
bhp T5), and a full specification make it one of the best all-round packages
in the compact executive saloon market. With prices ranging from £19,995
to £23,995 (on the road) it also represents excellent value for money.

By GlobalDataVolvo will have a concept
car at Paris as a design study hinting what a future high-performance car with
a Volvo badge might look like.
Developed in parallel with
the new S60 sports saloon, Volvos engineers have produced this concept
car to study technical innovations that would be possible in a high-performance
model.
NEW VOLVO DIESEL POWER
- Aluminium, five-cylinder,
2.4 litre turbo-diesel - Increased power and torque
- More economical and lower
emissions - Common rail technology
Volvo is announcing a new,
lightweight aluminium diesel engine at Paris. It is quieter, more powerful and
economical with substantially lower emissions and the first Volvo designed and
built diesel engine for a passenger car.
Due to be introduced early
in 2001 in S80, V70 and then S60, it has a common rail fuel injection system
for quieter running and, compared to its predecessor, offers an increase in
power and torque with economy of over 43mpg available in the S80 executive saloon.
It also comfortably beats the 2000 EU 3 emissions requirements, with effectively
half the emission levels of the previous unit.
REVOLVOLUTION
ReVolvolution
Volvo is on the move with 2000 already proving an important year with
an unprecedented number of new models, representing an almost entirely new line-up
for the Volvo stand at the Paris Show.
The millennium started with
an all-new V70 estate range, followed by a new Cross Country, S40/V40 Phase
II and the exciting S60. The latest S80 and C70 coupe and convertible models
will also be at the show.
