Saab Cars North America (SCNA) has named Timothy Colbeck president and chief operating officer. He started today (9 May, 2011).

North America is troubled Saab‘s largest market. Colbeck reports to Saab Automobile AB vice president and head of global sales & aftersales, Matthias Seidl and the automaker’s North America directors. Seidl had been temporary North American COO since January after replacing Michael Colleran, who “resigned to pursue further career opportunities”. Seidl himself has considerable experience in the United States market, having spent several years as COO for Volkswagen of America in the late 2000s. Prior to that, he was American region sales chief for Volkswagen and Audi.

Colbeck joined SCNA after 25 years with Subaru of America where he was most recently senior vice president, sales. SCNA said Subaru achieved record sales and market share in the last two years and was the only brand to achieve sales increases in each of the last three years under Colbeck’s direction. He also held ebusiness, finance and fixed operations posts at the automaker’s US HQ.
