Volvo Trucks is to cut output at its Renault Trucks (RT) division in response to slowing demand in Europe.
The company will introduce a shorter working week for employees at its RT unit.
Volvo has already voiced concern over prospects for truck sales in Europe and warned of the need to adjust production accordingly.
“We are making an adjustment in line with the expectation we have that there will be a decline in the total market in Europe of 10 percent in 2012,” Volvo spokesman Marten Wikforss told Reuters.
Truck makers have experienced much higher sales in Europe this year as the market recovered on the back of the need for truck operators to replace vehicles.
