Saab owner, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), says it is aiming to finalise negotiations “in the next few weeks” with around ten suppliers as it looks to tie up its component plans.

The Trollhättan-based automaker will start production towards year-end of its petrol/diesel 9-3 model to be followed by an electric version next year.”

“We have a number [suppliers] – ten or so where we are still negotiating – we need to finalise those negotiations in the next few weeks,” said NEVS vice president purchasing, Per Svantesson, at last week’s FKG Annual Suppliers Forum in Gothenburg, hinting at a slightly more precise date for a 9-3 restart.

“We will in fact start production just before the end of the year. We need to be very humble for this type of plan. I can’t say which week or day, but we will have everything in place before the end of the year.

“We have a fantastic opportunity to start a car company from scratch. How often do [you] have the chance to do that?”
