Volvo Trucks’ deliveries during the January-October period this year fell 8% year on year to 78,131 units.
October’s volume of slightly over 6,000 vehicles delivered set a new monthly record, Volvo said. European deliveries this year are up 21% with eastern Europe accounting for most of the increase, up 86%.
What the truck maker referred to as “production disturbances” in North America earlier in the year resulted in a large order backlog with long lead times.
To address this, it temporarily increased production rates at its New River Valley plant in the US from the end of October until the end of January, when the rate will be reduced to about the same level as previously.
