Gothenburg’s Court of Appeal is due to pronounce imminently on whether or not Saab has won the right to enter voluntary reorganisation.
Saab appealed to Gothenburg following rejection by the lower Court in Vanersborg of its bankruptcy protection request, which if granted, could lead to its employees receiving overdue wages and allow the automaker a period to secure further funding.

While not terminal for Saab if it fails – the manufacturer can appeal to Sweden’s Supreme Court – the decision clearly has huge implications for both workforce and the company as a whole.
“The ruling is coming right after 13:00 [Swedish local], Gothenburg Court of Appeal court secretary Kristina Brown-Ek told just-auto from Sweden. “The documents arrived here on 14 September [and] the judges started pretty [much] right away.”
The Appeal Court sat with four judges – usually cases take place with three but a further person may sometimes be added.
“If it is a positive ruling, it is in effect immediately,” added Brown-Ek.
