Suzuki Motor unveiled the all-new Ignis compact crossover vehicle this week, with sales in Japan scheduled to begin in mid-February.

The new Ignis shares its A-segment platform with the Solio, a compact car sold exclusively in Japan.

The Ignis is a 'mild' hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), featuring Mitsubishi Electric's integrated starter generator (ISG) which supplements the petrol engine to deliver a fuel consumption of 28.8km/litre.

Prices in Japan start at JPY1,382,400 (US$11,862).
