Mobileye has launched camera only Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) software and said it would be introduced in unspecified production vehicles this year.

The product enables automakers to comply with new EU standards which mandate automatic sensing of speed limits in in all new vehicle models.

Effective from July 2024, the rule requires all new passenger vehicles sold in the EU to meet specific ISA requirements.

The system can detect static and dynamic message speed limit signs in various weather and lighting conditions as well as temporary speed limits and implied (unsigned) limits such as those in cities.

Testing ensured the new software met or exceeded EU mandated standards.

The ISA software is designed for the EyeQ platform and has been certified for all 27 EU countries plus Israel, Norway, Switzerland, and Turkey.

The system allows automakers with vehicles already equipped with certain chips to meet the new standards by updating existing software with no need for extra hardware.

R&D chief Gaby Hayon claimed the system performs better than traditional map based products.
