
Stellantis and nuclear fuel recycling company Orano will establish a joint venture for recycling end of life EV batteries and scrap from gigafactories in Europe and North America.
The JV will recover cobalt, nickel and lithium and produce so called black mass for refining in a hydrometallurgical plant Orano will build in Dunkirk, France.

Stellantis circular economy business unit head Alison Jones said: “The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals has confirmed the need to find solutions like this one with Orano to meet the challenge of natural resource scarcity and sustainability.”
Operations will begin in 2026.
