STMicroelectronics and Weifu High-Technology, a Chinese provider of automotive electronic control systems, have unveiled ST’s participation in Weifu’s Researching and Testing Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Efforts will focus on the development and study of automotive core solutions, including diesel-engine fuel injection equipment (FIE), automotive exhaust post-processing and intake systems.
Adoption of electronic control systems in China is mostly driven by more stringent emission standards for vehicles, such as the China V standard already deployed in Beijing and Shanghai and due for national deployment by 2018.
Weifu specialises in electronic control systems for three main automotive applications: intake, fuel injection and exhaust.
“Weifu is one of China’s leading domestic providers of engine core components and control solutions,” said Wiefu general manager, Xiaodong Wang.
“We have established good relationships and cooperation with many leading engine makers in China in diesel-engine fuel-injection equipment, diesel-engine air-intake systems and exhaust after-treatment systems.
