Tata will bring its ultra-cheap Nano mini to Spain in 2010-2011 and hopes to raise sales 54% to 4,300 units this year, an official for distributor Nissho Motor told just-auto.

“We are very interested in bringing this model to Spain where mini models are selling very well,” the official said, adding that manufacturing limitations in India will make it difficult to import the car sooner.

Tata is working to launch the Nano in Europe in the medium term – recent reports said an updated Euro 5-compliant model would be ready in four years.

In Spain, Tata recently launched the revamped Xenon pick-up and Gran Safari SUV which it hopes will boost the brand’s sales.

Tata sold 2,410 units in Spain last year, up 63% from 2006.
