PSA Peugeot-Citroen could ‘lose’ output of nearly 3,000 Citroen Xsara Picasso vehicles by Wednesday if it fails to find enough parts to complete the vehicles after a supplier’s factory fire disrupted production last Friday, communications director Pedro Hortas told just-auto on Monday (25 September).

“We are working real-time to fix the situation and we could resume normal production tomorrow or Wednesday,” Hortas said, adding that assembly of 1,100 Xsara Picassos has been interrupted since supplier Incalplas’ factory was destroyed by fire last Thursday.
The fire also forced PSA to interrupt production of 700 units of the C4 hatchback, the Citroen Berlingo and the Peugeot Partner. But Hortas said those cars are now being produced to normal schedule.
Incalplas makes plastic parts for the Xsara Picasso’s bumpers and interiors. Since the fire, the company has hired other local suppliers to make the missing parts for it, and hopes normal output will resume soon.
Hortas said he was not sure whether PSA will continue to use Incalplas in the future. Allariz (Orense)-based Incalplas could not be reached for comment.
