Seat is to call its upcoming D-segment (Ford Mondeo, Opel/Vauxhall Vectra et al) competitor due out next year the Exeo (pronounced Ex-ay-o).

The name comes from the Latin word exire, which means to go beyond or to go further, the Spanish VW group affiliate said.

It added that the name differs from all other current Seat model denominations, and “is symbolic of the beginning of a new period for the company”.
