SEAT’s Martorell plant built 442,677 vehicles in 2014, up 13.5% over 2013, executives said at a conference in Madrid.

This was the fifth consecutive year of annual growth and the highest production volume there since 2002.

Martorell also produced the largest number of vehicles of any plant in Spain in 2014.

The company said “thanks to the increase in production, last year we hired more than 800 temporary workers and since January, 350 of those workers have signed permanent contracts.”

SEAT also plans to open around 100 dealerships this year, 90% of them in Europe.
