Spanish car maker Seat will expand into South Africa this month and hopes to sell 3,000 cars there next year, local trade publication La Tribuna de Automocion reported.
Seat will open 10 dealers in the country and will sell the sportiest and most powerful versions of its Leon, Ibiza and Altea models. In line with that strategy, the more conservative Toledo model won’t reach South African dealers, the magazine reported.
The South African market is important to Seat’s growth strategy, Seat sources were quoted as telling Spanish newswire Europa Press.
Seat did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment.
Seat will sell its zippy Ibiza FR and Leon Cupra models in South Africa, Europa Press said.
