Peugeot has said it would choose a potential partner for its Kaluga plant, 180km southwest of Moscow, by June at the latest.
The automaker is discussing joining with partner Mitsubishi [which builds versions of its Outlander SUV for PSA’s Citroen and Peugeot brands] and local Russian players, finance director Isabel Marey-Semper told Reuters, adding it would pick only one car maker.
“A three-way cooperation is impossible. We will decide in June at the latest,” she told the news agency.
Reuters noted that PSA has said previously it planned to sell 100,000 Peugeot and Citroen vehicles in Russia in 2010, with a commitment to eventually raising this target to 300,000 a year.
