Spanish car sales fell 38% in May, a slower rate of decline than in April when they fell 45.6% year-on-year, Spanish car makers’ association Anfac said.

New car sales dropped to 71,161 units from 116,112 in the same month last year, Anfac said.

Last month Spain followed the UK and announced a plan earlier to give buyers EUR2,000 (US$2,800) toward the cost of buying a new car priced up to EUR30,000.   The cost will be split between the government, regional authorities and manufacturers.
